Newsletter May 2010
Hello Friends and Trainees
Yes, it’s been a while… Remember the last newsletter? Here’s a hint
My newsletter serves to inform, entertain, and keep up better connected between trainings. It may also connect you to others who train with me! I send this newsletter to my current and recent past training clients at Healthworks and clients in my fitness business through SunnyDayFitness.com. I’ll share motivation, fitness facts, and on-line resources for you. Let’s dive in!
======= Blog update:
I’ve had a lot of busy weeks and months, plus some BIG questions on my mind. Why be a personal trainer? Why train indoors at Healthworks and outdoors with my biz?
These are not small-time questions about tweaking my available hours or expanding my clients to the 1,000’s instead of the current 100’s that I’ve trained in recent years. Those are just the details of how I market my training services. Instead, I’m asking “Why be a trainer?” and “Where and How can I best serve YOU?”
I am often asked, “Do you enjoy working at Healthworks?” Yes, for the most part, I do! Most of my trainees met me there or through a friend at Healthworks. I was a very satisfied member for three years before joining the staff. I still meet great women at Healthworks every week, even having worked PT/FT for nearly 5 years now, and I will stay for several reasons:
- the people I work directly with are fun, talented, and know how to motivate me to be better than I would be on my own;
- the location makes such an easy commute (6-mins by bike, 10-mins by run, and there’s the T or bus in bad weather), and finally,
- the members are there for the RIGHT reasons — to better themselves and to help others
Still, I will continue to cultivate more SunnyDayFitness.com clients in the summer months.

I want to grow beyond the 20-30 people who’ve attended my bootcamps or had me visit them for in-home trainings. I am very motivated to train more men and women through SunnyDayFitness because it’s important to me that I meet my clients’ needs wherever they’re at, and being in a gym isn’t always the best thing for people. Living room floors are often more convenient! Parks and green spaces are often more enjoyable! And for my male clients, Healthworks isn’t even an option!
With SunnyDayFitness I will continue to host workouts at Fresh Pond, Raymond Park, Harvard U Stadium (remember the leg shakes from running those stairs…I do!!), and am expanding to Tufts now. There are so many good, outdoor options I can barely keep my feet on the ground at all of them. :-)
What about you? What motivates you to train? Where do you want to sweat?
======= Fitness facts:
CDC’s data from 2008 on Exercise or Physical Activity in the U.S. :
- Adults who exercise regularly: 32.5%
- Adults who report NO leisure-time physical activity: 36%
- Does that mean that nearly 70% of adults do not have any regular activity, and half of those get NO Exercise at all. Yes, sadly, it does!
Got excuses? Think you’re too slow? Whatever!
